Code of Conduct
Last updated: February 27, 2026
Polymarket exists to aggregate information and produce accurate forecasts on the events that matter. The Builder Program is how we extend that mission - you're building the tools and interfaces that bring prediction markets to more people.
That only works if we maintain trust. Trust in each other, and trust in the ecosystem. This document lays out what we expect from every builder. It's a condition of participation, not a suggestion. If you violate it, you're out.
The Core Principles
Three things we care about above all else:
- Integrity first: Our product is truth. Any action that compromises the integrity of our markets or our community is a direct assault on our mission. Be honest. Be transparent. Do not mislead.
- Positive-sum mindset: We are a collaborative ecosystem, not a zero-sum arena. The most valuable products are built through open knowledge sharing and mutual support. Your success should contribute to the ecosystem, not extract from it.
- Professional respect: We are a global community of builders from diverse backgrounds. We engage in rigorous, intense debate, but we do not tolerate personal attacks, harassment, or discrimination. Respect for each other is the bedrock of a healthy community.
What We Expect
The following rules apply to all participants in the Polymarket Builder Program across all platforms and interactions, including but not limited to Discord, Telegram, GitHub, X, community calls, and the applications you build.
- Being honest with users about what your product does and how secure it is.
- Only authentic trading behaviour: no spoofing, or artificial volume to game prices or the leaderboard.
- Not attacking other projects - no DDoS, no exploiting their code, no social engineering campaigns.
- Not spreading FUD, baseless rumors, or misleading claims about other builders, their projects, or Polymarket itself. First offense: formal warning. Second offense: badge and leaderboard removal.
- Not launching unauthorized tokens or financial instruments that leverage the Polymarket brand or your affiliation with the program.
- Securing your application. Your users' funds are your responsibility. Don't build UIs that trick people into giving up private keys or hide fees.
- All team members in a project may be held responsible for the unethical actions of a single builder or team member, depending on the circumstances.
- Reporting vulnerabilities to us privately, not exploiting them.
- Keeping confidential information confidential. Don't share private conversations or proprietary data from our private channels.
- Not harassing or discriminating against anyone based on gender, race, sexuality, disability, religion, age, or anything else.
- Not making unwelcome sexual advances or comments. We're especially strict about this if you have any position of influence.
- Treating grants and rewards with respect. Use them to further your project and the ecosystem, not for personal benefit.
- Generally operating in good faith and behaving professionally.
Enforcement
We take this Code of Conduct extremely seriously. Violations will be investigated thoroughly and will result in immediate action.
- Reporting: If you witness or are subject to a violation, report it immediately and confidentially to the Polymarket team at builder@polymarket.com. All reports will be handled with discretion and urgency.
- Consequences: Depending on the severity of the violation, enforcement actions are at our sole discretion and may include, but are not limited to:
- A formal private warning.
- Temporary or permanent removal from all private community channels.
- Public removal from the Builder Program Leaderboard.
- Immediate revocation of API keys and all technical benefits.
- Forfeiture of any and all past or future grants and rewards.
- Permanent removal from the Polymarket Builder Program and a public statement of dissociation.
This is a living document. We will review and update it as our community evolves. By participating in the Polymarket Builder Program, you agree to uphold these standards.
